Are there others out there trying to investigate or manipulate the data?
Mark and others here have truly inquisitive approaches to what you are doing, what others may be doing and in going extra steps to make the science more useful. That said here are some other questions that we hope will assist in doing that.
· On what panel are the bars mounted?
I will check which are the X and Y axis and get back to you
· What is the emissivity of the two bars, or if that isn’t available, perhaps a little more description of the surfaces? Is the shiny one chrome plated or is it just polished Al. Is the anodized one dull or smooth?
The two bars are both 6063T6 alloy. One is polished and then chrome plated - the other is satin and black anodized. The structure is also 1/2 black and 1/2 silver - see the many fotos. In this case they are both matt finished - one face silver anodised and one face black anodised
· In the DashBoard, what is being reported in the materials science experiment?Both the strips
What is the chassis temp (what is the chassis and where is the thermistor mounted), what is the panel temp (what is the panel and where is the thermistor mounted)?
The strips have a rear cut out in which the thermistor sits - see foto below
Which is the temp of the experiment bars? Which is the temp of the side bars?
uum so many questions:) we have 4 thermistors, one on each strip and one on each of the chassis members - again have a look at the fotos. !
· I made some crude guesses, but they aren’t good enough. What is the mass of the experiment bars?
Sorry - over the years I think we have developed a number of different terms for the same things - we know what we are talking about but it must be confusing for newcomers...we will try to do better!
