Will AO-73/Funcube-1 be Available for US Field Day?

Postby WB4SON » Mon Jun 16, 2014 7:28 pm

Since this event begins at about 1800 UTC Saturday June 28, just wondering if it will be OK to use AO-73 for Field Day contacts between North American Stations? Perhaps the transponder will be turned on for the weekend daylight passes as it has been in the past?

Hi Bob,

Sorry for the delay in reply!

Yes I expect that FC1 will be in amateur mode this coming weekend. I hope you have a lot of fun on field day.

Just to note that the following weekend...July 5th we expect that the spacecraft will be left in autonomous mode as it will form part of a demonstration to schoolchildren that will be taking place on that day at the Royal Institution where Michael Faraday used to lecture! see http://www.rigb.org/our-history/michael-faraday

cheers
