FUNcube Warehouse Registration

Postby g4dpz » Thu Nov 14, 2013 1:19 pm

Hi,

Just a few quick notes on how to register for using the FUNcube Dashboard with the FUNcube Data Warehouse:

The main URL for the warehouse is: https://warehouse.funcube.org.uk (note that we are using https for secure comm's of user data)

Navigate to the registration page using the Register button in the top left hand corner
Enter a Callsign/School/Name between 5 and 30 characters long using characters 0-9 a-z A-Z _
Enter your email address twice (We use this to send out registration info)
Enter latitude and longitude in the form +xxx.yyyy or -xxx.yyyy
Enter and confirm a password

Press submit.

If any of the details are invalid, you will be prompted for correctly formatted ones

If successful, you will be shown AN IMAGE of the PC Dashboard registration screen with instructions on how to fill it out.

In the meantime, you will have been sent an email containing your registration details.

It will take the form:

Thank you for registering (<Callsign/School/Name>) to take part in the data upload
for the FUNcube project.

Your password is: <password>

Your authorisation code is: <authorisation code>

Please click on the link below (or past it into a browser) to activate vour account

https://warehouse.funcube.org.uk/authemail.html?s=<Callsign/School/Name>&r=<uniquecode>

When you click on the link you will be taken to the Account Authenticated page on the FUNcube Warehouse and once you have entered the information provided in the email into the Dashboard you will be able to upload data to the warehouse.

Any questions, please submit them to this thread.

I'm having problems completing the registration process.

I'm using Linux, with Firefox web browser.

I can fill the form in fine, including the password boxes. It correctly detects zero length password or mismatching entries.

However, when I click on the "submit" button, it submits the data, then returns with the password fields blank. No other message, and it does not move on to displaying the image of the login page (or whatever - can't remember what it said on the forum info!).

No emails received in response to the process.

(Yes, I do have a windows machine for the software, but it's not usually connected to the web!)

I'll check the server and database to see it it attempted a registration.

I can't see any details about you in the database so the submit must have failed. Please try again.

If you can let me know the IP address you are sending the request from, I can do some deeper investigation in the logs.

Many thanks for your patience.

Many thanks Dave. I've tried again with another idea.

I noticed the messages alongside the lat and long boxes. They said "use decimal dddd.dddd" or something like that - I assumed that was just information.

I had given values to 6dp (lat) and 5dp (long). I changed them both to 4dp, and it's worked OK now.

Problem solved! Maybe slightly clearer info needed for lat and long box entries.

Hi,

I can see the registrations in the database and the interaction with the mail server in the logs. I'll send theese two sets of details
manually while I check out the problem.

I just tried registering on the warehouse and had the same issue.

Whilst the warehouse uses https to secure data the password is then sent back via email which is generally not encrypted.
